It had been five months since I arrived in Lombok for my internship, and as the end of my stay approached, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness at the thought of leaving this beautiful and special place. But I knew that I still had one more weekend to explore and make the most of my time on the island.
I was filled with excitement and a sense of anticipation. I had spent the past five months immersing myself in the local culture and exploring the many wonders that Lombok had to offer, and I knew that this final weekend would be no different.
A hike to the skies
As I set off on my adventure a hike to the summit of Mount Rinjani, an active volcano that rises to a height of over 3,700 meters. I had heard so much about this beautiful and challenging hike, and I was eager to experience it for myself.
The trail to the summit of Mount Rinjani was steep and rocky, and the higher I climbed, the more breathtaking the views became. The air was crisp and clean, and the sun was shining brightly overhead, casting a warm glow over the landscape.
As I made my way up the mountain, I was struck by the sheer beauty of the surrounding landscape. To my left, I could see the lush green rice terraces that stretched out as far as the eye could see. To my right, I could see the Gili Islands and Bali in the distance, their sandy beaches and crystal clear waters beckoning to me.
But it wasn't just the views that made the hike to Mount Rinjani so special. It was also the sense of accomplishment and achievement that I felt as I reached each new milestone along the way. The trail was challenging, and at times I found myself questioning whether I had the strength and determination to complete the climb. But I pushed on, fueled by a sense of determination and a desire to see what lay at the top of the mountain.
Moments of Peace
As I reached the summit of Mount Rinjani, I was rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views I had ever seen. The landscape stretched out before me, a tapestry of green and blue that seemed to go on forever. I could see the Gili Islands and Bali in the distance, and I knew that I was truly in a special place.
The sense of peace and tranquility that I felt as I stood on the summit of Mount Rinjani was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. It was as if all of my worries and troubles had melted away, and I was left with a feeling of clarity and perspective. I knew that this was a moment that would stay with me for the rest of my life..
As I made my way back down the mountain, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the amazing experiences and memories that I had made during my time on Lombok. The island was truly a special and magical place, and I knew that I had been forever changed by my time here. I returned home with a renewed sense of purpose and a deep appreciation for all that life has to offer.
So, if you're looking for an adventure of a lifetime, consider adding Lombok and Mount Rinjani to your travel list. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
